Irina Martynenko, a dermatologist-venereologist at the Republican Center for Dermatovenereology, warned the youth against self-treating acne during the broadcast of the "Birinchi Radio" program. She noted that many young people, lacking sufficient knowledge, rely on information from the internet, which can lead to incorrect actions.

The specialist previously mentioned factors contributing to the development of acne. According to her, there are widespread myths encouraging young people to use aggressive remedies, such as toothpaste, to treat acne.

“Some patients may suffer from acne for a long time, postponing their visit to a dermatologist because they hope the problem will resolve on its own. Or they were told that it would pass, just like it did for their parents. This is an incorrect approach. People often try various cosmetic products, hoping for quick results, but do not achieve them. It is also worth noting that many prefer to consult cosmetologists, as this may seem more comfortable, although a consultation with a dermatologist should be a priority. It is important that cosmetology is applied at the right time, for example, during remission to eliminate visible skin defects, such as post-pigmentation or scars. Unfortunately, patients come to the doctor only after trying all possible remedies and often already with more complicated cases that require prolonged treatment,” she added.

Martynenko also emphasized that each case must be approached individually, and attempts to squeeze pimples can only worsen the situation, leading to the spread of the inflammatory process.
