In Bishkek, an evening of remembrance was held for the 90th anniversary of the people's writer of Kyrgyzstan, Beksultan Jakiev.

On January 16, a memorial evening was held in Bishkek dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Beksultan Zhakiev, who is a national writer of Kyrgyzstan, a Hero of the Kyrgyz Republic, a laureate of the Toktogul State Prize, as well as a knight of the Order of "Manas" III degree and the "Dank" medal.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, the celebration began with the laying of flowers at the writer's monument located at the Ala-Archa cemetery. The main part of the event took place at the National Theater "Manas," where representatives of the cultural community, government institutions, and the writer's relatives gathered.

During the evening, participants noted the significant influence of Beksultan Zhakiev on Kyrgyz literature and dramaturgy. Attendees recalled his life path, creative achievements, and public activities.

Throughout his career, Beksultan Zhakiev held important positions at the "Kyrgyzfilm" studio, in the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz SSR, the State Committee for Cinematography, and in the Union of Theater Workers of Kyrgyzstan. He also served as a state advisor to the president and headed the state directorate "Manas–1000."

His drama "Atanyn tagdyry" ("Fate of the Father") introduced new content and philosophical ideas into Kyrgyz literature and theatrical art, provoking a wide public response. This work has been staged over 500 times at the Kyrgyz Drama Theater and more than 300 times in theaters in cities such as Almaty, Shymkent, Zhambyl, and Semey in Kazakhstan. An opera (music by V. Gusev) and a ballet (based on "Saadak kakty," choreography by E. Zhumaev) were also created based on this drama. Many of Zhakiev's works have been translated into Russian, Yakut, Kazakh, and other languages and continue to be performed on theater stages beyond Kyrgyzstan.
