On January 15, 2001, Jimmy Wales and Larry Sanger founded "Wikipedia," which is celebrating its 25th anniversary this month. Over the course of a quarter of a century, the project has transformed from a small resource with 100 articles into a powerful online encyclopedia with over 65 million articles, attracting nearly 15 billion views each month.

Currently, the management of "Wikipedia" is carried out by the Wikimedia Foundation, established in 2003. In honor of the anniversary, the foundation released a documentary miniseries featuring eight editors from different corners of the world who contribute to the project.

In the fall of 2022, "Wikimedia" announced a strategy aimed at supporting "Wikipedia" in the face of the growing influence of artificial intelligence, despite a noticeable decline in traffic.

Additionally, the foundation created a digital "time capsule" containing audio recordings from Jimmy Wales, who shares important moments from the history of "Wikipedia."

A collection of the 25 most popular topics on "Wikipedia" throughout the project's existence has also been compiled. Among the most sought-after queries were lists of celebrity deaths, information about the USA, President Donald Trump, Queen Elizabeth II, and India.
