China has stopped purchasing electricity from Russia
According to sources from Kommersant, the main factor that prompted this decision was a significant increase in the export price, which now exceeds domestic electricity rates in China. This circumstance has made further purchases economically unfeasible for Beijing.
Analysts interviewed by the newspaper note that the volumes of electricity supplied from Russia to China were relatively small compared to domestic production in the PRC, which allows for their confident replacement within the Chinese energy system.
