The Fund for Journalistic Investigations Announces a Competition for the Ulanbek Egizbaev Award
The main goal of the competition is to promote the improvement of the quality of investigative journalism, engage young authors in this field, and identify cases of corruption and violations.
Works are invited from journalists, media organizations, freelancers, civil activists, bloggers, and students. The evaluation of materials will be based on criteria such as relevance, scale of the topic, individual approach, completeness of disclosure, evidential basis, exclusivity of information, multimedia elements, and adherence to professional and ethical standards.
The winner or group of winners will receive the Ulanbek Egizbaev Award.
Applications with links to published works must be sent to the email address [email protected] by January 31, 2026.
In the letter, please specify the author's name, the full name of the editorial office or organization, as well as a brief description of the work. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
Submissions will be accepted from January 1 to December 31, 2025. One participant may submit an unlimited number of works; however, unpublished materials will not be accepted.

Ulanbek Egizbaev was a renowned Kyrgyz investigative journalist.
He tragically passed away in July 2018 at Lake Issyk-Kul, and according to forensic examination, the cause of his death was drowning.
The journalist's death caused a wide public outcry. In 2018, he was posthumously awarded the state medal "Erdik" for his significant contribution to journalism and active civic stance.
In his honor, the Ulanbek Egizbaev Award was established, which is awarded for outstanding investigations in the field of journalism in Kyrgyzstan.
