President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Kyrgyzstan Temir Sariyev announced the creation of some of the most favorable conditions for the sewing industry in the country. This statement was made at a meeting of the "Ala-Too" deputy group, where the current situation in the sewing industry, employment, and the economy were discussed.
He noted that during visits to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, local entrepreneurs expressed dissatisfaction as Kyrgyz producers are pushing them out of the market. Russian buyers also emphasize that the qualification level of Kyrgyz tailors is 3-5 times higher, and the quality of the products meets European standards, Sariyev added.
Sariyev emphasized the need for Kyrgyzstan to transition to a higher price segment, highlighting the importance of moving away from mass production of cheap clothing.
“I have always said that we should focus not on the production of t-shirts and underwear, but on creating more expensive clothing,” he noted.
Additionally, the head of the Chamber of Commerce touched upon issues of interaction within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, noting that some deputies and bloggers make incorrect statements in the public space.
“Russia is the main market for our products, which account for almost 100% of exports. Therefore, special attention must be paid to the sewing industry,” Sariyev emphasized.
He also reminded that in the context of economic difficulties and a decrease in budget revenues in Russia, the requirements for the import of goods have become stricter.
“Previously, many issues were resolved more easily, but now a strict order has been introduced regarding VAT and documentation. We need to streamline the documentation of goods and accompanying documents to facilitate the process. The market is changing, and the policy is also undergoing changes,” he stated.
Sariyev added that about 90% of sales are now happening through marketplaces, and Kyrgyz producers need to adapt to the new working conditions.
