The film "Kurak" has been included in the official program of the film festival in Mumbai.
This year, Kyrgyzstan has become the focus country of the festival, allowing five Kyrgyz films to be presented as part of a special curated program, among which is "Kurak," which has the opportunity to showcase itself in the official program.
Director Erke Jumakmatova created the film "Kurak," which has become the largest international co-production in Central Asia, involving seven countries in its production: Kyrgyzstan, Switzerland, Serbia, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy. The film's plot includes three interconnected stories about women facing violence and legal lawlessness in modern Kyrgyzstan.
The project was implemented with the support of the Cinematography Department of the Ministry of Culture of Kyrgyzstan. This is the first experience of its kind for national cinema, opening new horizons for Kyrgyz filmmakers.
