The helmet of a Soviet firefighter attracted the attention of buyers at the "flea market" in the Jayil district.
The seller named Alexander shared that this helmet was found during the dismantling of an old shed and is being sold for 2000 soms.
"Perhaps it will be useful to someone," he noted.
Historian and local historian Maxim Podgorny spoke about the origin and purpose of this helmet:
"This is a classic example of a firefighter's helmet, produced in 1950. It was actively used by Soviet firefighters during firefighting and rescue operations near open flame sources.
The helmet provided reliable head protection. The "crest" on the top of the design served to soften impacts from collapsing building elements. The chin strap securely fixed the helmet on the head. The front part is adorned with a relief badge, which is the original emblem of the fire departments of the USSR. These helmets were usually painted in green or protective colors. Starting from 1973, the USSR began producing helmets made of polycarbonate, which were lighter and stronger than their metal counterparts," he added.
Maxim Podgorny also noted that currently, stronger helmets made from synthetic materials are used.
