The Ministry of Culture is preparing a law on bloggers
Recently, a letter from Deputy Minister Marat Tagaev appeared on social media, addressed to a participant of the People's Kurultai, who requested to consider issues of accountability for bloggers for spreading content that negatively affects teenagers. The letter mentions that the ministry is currently working on a draft law that will affect bloggers with more than 10,000 subscribers, requiring them to pay taxes on advertising income.
The ministry clarified that the draft law will cover all aspects of bloggers' activities, not just advertising.
“Paying taxes on advertising is just one item in the draft law. We have not yet decided whether the rules will apply to bloggers with 10, 20, or 30 thousand subscribers. This issue will also be discussed with the State Tax Service. Overall, the document is intended to regulate all areas of bloggers' activities. Work on it is ongoing. As soon as it is ready, we will provide it for public discussion,” the ministry stated.
It is expected that the draft law will be presented in April or May of this year.
It is worth noting that the Ministry of Culture's work on the draft law for bloggers became known in the spring of last year, as confirmed by publications.
