Uzbekistan to Review Defense Doctrine

At a recent meeting of the Security Council of Uzbekistan, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to revise the country's defense doctrine. This information was announced by the president's press service.

“It is necessary to update the defense doctrine adopted eight years ago, as well as the national security concept that has been in effect since 1997,” the statement said.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of strengthening military security and defense in light of the dynamically changing situation in the region and the world. The president highlighted the need to transition to a proactive and systematic approach in the field of defense aimed at preventing potential risks and threats.
Among the proposed measures is the creation of a new model of compulsory military service, which will focus on training servicemen in professional skills and providing them with real opportunities after completing their service. It is planned that about 5,000 conscripts will undergo training as part of the "One Million Programmers" and "Five Million Leaders in AI" programs each year.

Conditions for servicemen to enroll in higher educational institutions during their service are also proposed, as well as support for education after demobilization, including reimbursement of costs for certificates and the provision of interest-free educational loans.

Measures to assist in the employment of demobilized servicemen will also be expanded, including support for entrepreneurial initiatives and the provision of additional benefits when seeking employment.
