Nigeria and Egypt completed the lineup of semifinalists for the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.
The Nigerian national team reached the semifinals, defeating Algeria 2-0 at the stadium in Marrakech. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring early in the second half, and then assisted Akor Adams, who secured the victory for the "Super Eagles." The Nigerians continue their battle for their fourth continental title and will now face Morocco in the semifinals.
Egypt also secured a place in the next stage of the tournament, defeating the reigning champions, the Ivory Coast national team, in a dramatic match with a score of 3-2 at the arena in Agadir. Omar Marmoush opened the scoring in the third minute, then Rami Rabia doubled the lead, and at the very start of the second half, Mohamed Salah scored the third goal. Despite the efforts of the Ivorians, the seven-time African champions held on to their victory.
The semifinal matches will take place on Wednesday. Egypt will face Senegal in Tangier, while Nigeria will play against Morocco.
