Record snowfall in Moscow over the last 50 years

Moscow is experiencing a record snowfall, which has become the most significant in the last 50 years. Over the course of a day, 42% of the monthly precipitation norm fell in the capital of Russia, as reported by Evgeny Tishkovets, a specialist from the Phobos weather center.

Snow cover in the city reached 39 centimeters, breaking the previous record from 1976, when precipitation amounted to 12.9 millimeters.

“...The last time such a snow Armageddon was observed in Moscow was 56 years ago,” noted the expert.
