The first crematorium in Kazakhstan will soon begin operations in Almaty, as reported by the city's public health department, Tengrinews.kz informs.

On January 9, an order from the Ministry of National Economy was registered at the Ministry of Justice, which includes changes to the standard rules for burial and care for graves.

At the same time, work continues on approving the price list for cremation services through the supervisory board of the Almaty City Bureau of Forensic Medicine. Information about rates and conditions for providing services will be posted on the bureau's official website.

According to data from the Almaty Department of Communal Infrastructure and Housing Inspection, it was announced last September that burial spaces in cemeteries may run out within the next six to seven years. As of 2025, there were 70 cemeteries in the city, of which 61 are already closed. New burial plots will be allocated in the Almaty region.
