Folk Legends: The Elders Voiced Their Version of the Origin of the Name of the Picturesque Jailoo Ekibala
According to a correspondent from Turmush, this beautiful pasture is located in the upper reaches of the village of Eki-Naryn in the rural district of Ortok, on the way to the remote settlement of Oruk-Tam.
Eki-Bala is situated between two gorges, and the Malyy Naryn River flows nearby.
Locals, not knowing the exact reason for the name of the pasture, share a legend passed down by the elders. They claim that the name is connected to a tragic event when two children went missing here. According to the stories, the teenagers went to this pasture but got lost and could not find their way back. When the villagers went in search of them, they explained to passing travelers that they were going to the pasture because of the missing children, which gave this place its name — "eki bala" means "two children."
Currently, there are points on this pasture that provide services to tourists.
