100 instead of 50: In the city of Kara-Suu, the parking fee at the market has caused dissatisfaction among drivers

A video has surfaced online showing car owners protesting against the actions of parking lot workers located near the markets in the city of Kara-Suu in the Osh region.

According to the drivers, they are being charged an amount for parking that exceeds the established fee.

In the video, drivers report that the receipts issued to them indicate a cost of 50 soms, while in reality, the parking lot workers demand 100 soms for each car.

One of the drivers, showing a receipt, says: “The receipt says ‘50 soms,’ but you are charging 100.”
In response, a parking lot employee stated that for all-day parking, one must pay 100 soms, which sparked a dispute between the drivers and the parking workers.

The mayor of Kara-Suu, Islam Ermamotov, commented on the situation, explaining that the parking spaces had been leased to the local market.

“We aimed to organize the situation and reduce the level of traffic congestion. The market workers themselves requested to lease these areas, promising to establish order and reduce traffic jams, so we agreed,” he noted.

Meanwhile, the assistant director of the "Turatali" market, Mirlan Samiev, stated that the official parking fee is 50 soms.

He added that video recordings on social media showed that some workers, acting as individual entrepreneurs, were charging 100 soms.

“The fee for a car is 50 soms. The fact that they are charging 100 was only revealed today through the videos. We have already contacted the police, and an investigation is currently underway,” said Samiev.

  • The Kara-Suu district is famous for having one of the largest markets in Kyrgyzstan, where thousands of traders work. The municipal budget of Kara-Suu receives about 300,000 soms monthly from parking lot rentals.
