International experts have begun preparing a new nomination for the optimization of the buffer zone boundaries of "Sulaiman-Too"
According to the press service of the Ministry of Culture, the experts will be in the country from January 7 to 12. Their main goal is to develop new nominations that will help optimize the boundaries of the buffer zone of this site and assess its impact as a World Heritage site.
The composition of the international group includes:
- Dmitry Voyakin — goodwill ambassador of Kazakhstan, member of the National Commission of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO, authorized representative of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Kazakhstan at MondiaCult 2025, as well as coordinator of the "Central Asian Archaeological Landscapes" (CAAL) project from University College London (UCL);
- Kaya Waize — former president of ICOMOS Nepal, currently coordinator of the ICOMOS Regional Network for the Asia-Pacific region;
- Nargiz Aytuganova — researcher in the field of cultural world heritage.
During the meeting, key aspects of the preservation of the "Sulayman-Too" site were discussed, as well as the need to comply with UNESCO's recommendations and requirements. Participants outlined the next steps for preparing and agreeing on the updated nomination of the site.
