Hundreds of people are gathering at the frozen reservoir in the Kochkor district

During the New Year holidays, the Aра-Köl reservoir, also known as Lake Aра-Kul, became a popular destination for many tourists in the Kochkor district of the Naryn region.

This reservoir is located near the village of Aра-Köl in the rural municipality of Cholpon. The ice cover here spans approximately 20 hectares, and it is visited daily by 300 to 400 people.

In winter, the lake completely freezes, forming ice that is 70-80 centimeters thick.

Local organizers offer various services to visitors, including hot tea, skate rentals, and sledding.

Representatives from the Kochkor district state administration, tax service, emergency situations department, internal affairs department, and rural municipality conducted an inspection at the reservoir.
During the visit, they interacted with the visitors, provided safety briefings on the ice, and discussed measures to prevent accidents. They also addressed issues related to creating the necessary conditions for winter tourism.

Local organizers were advised to strictly follow the instructions of district services. For entertainment, performers from the Kochkor district cultural center and the Cholpon rural club entertained the visitors. Internal affairs department staff monitor the ice area and have prohibited vehicles from entering the ice.
