In Kyrgyzstan, almost half of the officially registered unemployed are women

According to data from the National Statistical Committee, in 2022, women accounted for 46.3% of the total number of officially registered unemployed in Kyrgyzstan. The unemployment rate among the working-age population reached 1.4%.

According to the Ministry of Labor, Social Security, and Migration, in 2025, 58,600 citizens applied to employment agencies, of which 39,800 were registered as unemployed.
The highest number of registered unemployed is observed in the Osh region, where their number is 10,523, and in the Jalal-Abad region — 10,376.
In other regions, the situation is as follows: in the Batken region, there are 5,795 unemployed registered, in the Talas region — 2,319, in the Issyk-Kul region — 1,842, in the Chui region — 1,343, and in the Naryn region — 1,307.

In major cities such as Bishkek and Osh, 3,144 and 3,192 unemployed are registered, respectively.
Compared to 2024, the unemployment rate in the country has decreased by 26%.
In 2024, the total number of unemployed in Kyrgyzstan was 91,600, of which 64,600 were officially registered.

It is also worth noting that the increase in the number of unemployed is due to returning citizens coming back home because of the tightening of migration conditions in Russia.
