Folk Legends: From the Establishment of the Village Club in 1929 to the Modern Library

The village of Krasnaya Rechka, located in the Issyk-Ata district of the Chui region, was founded in 1907 as part of the Stolypin agrarian reform and resettlement program. Previously, a correspondent from Turmush covered the history of the village and its first settlers.

This time, Nurmanbet Nurai Kankozhoeva, the acting head of Library No. 3 of Krasnaya Rechka, shared with the Turmush correspondent the story of the establishment of the first rural club and hospital.

As Kankozhoeva recounted, in 1929, a rural club was established in the village, organized by Alexander Savin. The first club was built with the active participation of Komsomol members and local residents who contributed their efforts. In 1938, a library was opened based on the club. By 1946, its collection contained approximately 160 books, and by 1965, this number had increased to 6,187. The library also subscribed to 20 magazines and 9 newspapers. By 2006, the library's collection reached 12,188 books, and the newspaper subscription included 12 publications.

“Until 1965, various clubs operated at the club, such as a choir, dance groups, a brass band, and sports sections. In 1975, a new building for the House of Culture was constructed,” she added.

Before the Great Patriotic War, there was no stationary hospital in the village; instead, there was an outpatient clinic that had only one paramedic. In 1929, the outpatient clinic was opened in the home of local residents, the Konovalovs. After the construction of a new school building, the old building was converted into a hospital, initially designed for 5 beds, and later expanded to 10–12. The creator of the institution was doctor A.I. Matryonich. Later, a new outpatient clinic was built, where two doctors and two paramedics worked,” the report states.
