How to Divinate on Christmas and in the Holy Days: Five Rituals for Love and the Future
The period before Christmas is a great time for predictions about the future and love. The most favorable time for divination is considered to be the Holy Days, which begin on Christmas (January 7) and end on Epiphany (January 19).
These two weeks are recognized as sacred for Orthodox Christians and are perfect for making wishes and conducting various divination rituals.
Card Divination
You will need a deck of cards, specifically four kings. Before going to bed, recite the magic words: “My betrothed, come to me in my dreams,” then place the cards under your pillow. The card that you dream of will predict what your future partner will be like:
- king of spades — a jealous and mature man;
- king of hearts — a young man;
- king of clubs — a wealthy man;
- king of diamonds — a person who is in love with you.
Wax Divination
For this ritual, you will need wax, a bowl of water, and a bit of creativity. Melt the wax in a water bath and carefully pour it into the cold water. The shapes that form will symbolize the events awaiting you in 2026:
- heart — everything related to relationships;
- face — new useful acquaintances;
- waves and zigzags — obstacles in your path;
- triangle — intrigues;
- ring — to starting a family;
- cross — to troubles or illnesses.
Mirror Divination
This ritual is considered one of the most magical. You will need two mirrors, which should be positioned to face each other. In the "corridor of reflections," you may see a person or event from the future.
Comb Divination
Before going to bed, comb your hair with a new comb and place it under your pillow, making a wish to meet your loved one. In the morning, count the number of hairs on the comb: one — for a quick meeting, two — expect news from your fiancé, more than three — for a rival.
Divination by Candle
This ancient method will help you find answers to important questions. You will need a candle and a lighter. Ask a question and carefully observe the flame. If it starts to flicker, that’s a sign of “no.” If the flame is steady, then the answer is positive. Note: each time after receiving an answer, you must extinguish and relight the candle.
Outdoor Divination
On Christmas night, young people go outside and ask the first passersby what their names are. According to the belief, this name will correspond to the name of their future partner. Additionally, the behavior of the passersby — friendly, serious, or silent — may hint at the character of the future partner.
