More than 80% of deaths in Kyrgyzstan are caused by non-communicable diseases

At the forum "Healthy Society - 2026," held in Moscow, the Deputy Minister of Health of Kyrgyzstan, Bakytbek Kadyraliev, reported that more than 80% of fatalities in the country are caused by chronic non-communicable diseases. The main risk factors include smoking, alcohol consumption, poor nutrition, and lack of physical activity, as indicated by the ministry's press service.
He emphasized that effective prevention requires not only a medical approach but also intersectoral cooperation and regulatory measures aimed at creating an environment conducive to a healthy lifestyle.

Kadyraliev also noted that the national program "Healthy Person - Prosperous Country" is being implemented in the country for the period from 2019 to 2030, which incorporates recommendations from the World Health Organization. The main areas of the program include combating smoking, developing healthy eating policies, restrictions on the consumption of sugar, salt, and trans fats, as well as prevention and early detection of risk factors at the primary healthcare level.

The Ministry of Health emphasizes the importance of implementing clinical protocols for the early detection of hypertension and diabetes, as well as the development of digital technologies in healthcare and increasing the role of nurses in preventive activities.

Additionally, projects aimed at promoting active longevity are being implemented in Kyrgyzstan, school health committees are being formed, and communication campaigns are being conducted to foster a culture of healthy living.

In conclusion of his speech, Bakytbek Kadyraliev stressed that an effective prevention of chronic diseases requires a combination of government policy, inter-agency cooperation, and active communication with the population. This will help reduce the level of premature mortality and improve the health of citizens.
