In the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, a meeting was held with the participation of the country's Minister of Health, Damir Osmonov, and the Ambassador of Korea to Kyrgyzstan, Kim Kwan-jae.
During the discussion, issues regarding the current state and future directions of cooperation in the field of healthcare between the two countries were addressed.
Minister Osmonov emphasized that Kyrgyzstan highly values its relations with the Republic of Korea and is committed to developing mutually beneficial partnerships. He noted that the establishment of a Comprehensive Partnership in December 2024 will open new opportunities for expanding cooperation in various fields, including healthcare.
Additionally, the participants discussed the upcoming "Central Asia - Republic of Korea" summit, scheduled for 2026, which will serve as an important platform for strengthening strategic dialogue and practical interaction.
During the negotiations, special attention was given to infrastructure projects in the healthcare sector being implemented with the support of the Economic Development Cooperation Fund. In particular, work continues on the project for the construction of the Republican Clinical Infectious Diseases Hospital, and preparations are underway for the modernization and construction of a new building for the National Hospital as part of the "Medical Town" initiative.
Damir Osmonov also highlighted the importance of cooperation in training medical personnel. Specialists from Kyrgyzstan are undergoing training through programs supported by the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare, including the international Lee Jong-wook Fellowship Program, which allows them to familiarize themselves with modern medical technologies and best management practices.
The Kyrgyz side expressed gratitude for the regular medical missions and humanitarian assistance provided by Korea to support the population and develop the healthcare system.
