According to Aman Osmonov, head of the licensing department of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, belief in folk healers is often due to the placebo effect as well as the despair of patients in severe conditions. During the broadcast of the program "Elden Sobol," he noted that according to global medical research, the placebo effect can manifest in 20% of cases. For example, if a person sincerely believes that ordinary vitamin C can heal them, they may experience temporary relief.
“Many turn to healers in a state of hopelessness. Some claim they can cure cancer in its final stages. But let’s be honest: if folk healers could really handle the diseases that modern medicine cannot, they would have already received a Nobel Prize,” he emphasized. Aman Osmonov shared personal experience, mentioning that his parents died from oncology. At that time, relatives suggested turning to unconventional treatment methods, believing that "hope dies last." According to him, it is precisely in such moments that people become most vulnerable and can fall victim to fraudsters.
"Those who fall into the trap of such 'healers' rarely turn to law enforcement, as they believe they acted of their own free will, or attribute the tragic consequences to the inevitability of death," he added.
Osmonov also reminded that legal medical practice requires passing through eight stages of verification.To obtain a license from the Ministry of Health, a specialist must meet the following requirements:
- having the appropriate medical education;
- having a suitable building that meets sanitary standards;
- necessary medical equipment;
- strict adherence to aseptic and antiseptic rules and other conditions.
