The Housing Committee approved in the second reading a bill expanding mandatory health insurance and benefits for youth.
The chairperson of the committee, Gulsunkan Junushalieva (District No. 29), reported that this bill aims to implement mandatory health insurance for citizens through medical institutions that operate under contracts with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund at the Ministry of Health. It also provides for the provision of free and subsidized medical services for certain categories of the population.
The bill proposes the introduction of benefits for children under 18 years old, as well as for students of vocational schools and students of secondary and higher educational institutions up to 21 years old. The payment for these services will be made from the republican budget.
In addition, the committee approved a bill concerning a grant agreement, under which Japan allocates a grant of 1 billion 801 million yen to Kyrgyzstan, equivalent to $11 million 600 thousand. These funds will be directed towards the modernization of medical equipment in referral hospitals in the southern regions of the country. As part of this project, it is planned to equip the Osh Interregional United Clinical Hospital and the Osh Oncology Center with modern medical equipment.
