At the meeting of the Committee on Labor, Health, Women's Affairs, and Social Issues of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 24, Deputy Nurchamal Torobekova (District No. 8) proposed an initiative to introduce mandatory medical examinations for couples before marriage.

The deputy noted that in Uzbekistan, future spouses are required to undergo tests for HIV and viral hepatitis, which, in her opinion, could help prevent situations where one partner conceals the presence of an infection. "We observe cases where young people return from Moscow with infections, and even their parents, knowing about the situation, do not warn future brides. As a result, after the wedding, both the wife and the child may be in danger," emphasized Torobekova.

Additionally, she suggested intensifying informational work with the population and strengthening sanitary control, taking into account migration flows. An important step should also be conducting systematic inspections of both private and public medical institutions — dental clinics, beauty salons, as well as gynecological and endoscopic offices. The deputy also called for the expansion of the hepatitis B vaccination program, including offering the vaccine to tourists coming to the country.
