The Deputy Chief Physician of the City Children's Clinical Hospital for Emergency Medical Care, Zhamiyla Anakeeva, reported on "Birinchi Radio" that the number of cases of echinococcosis in children has doubled.

According to her, many parents seek medical help when the disease has already led to serious damage to the liver and lungs, sometimes with a ruptured cyst. These figures are particularly high in Bishkek and the Chui region.

Anakeeva shared important aspects that parents should pay attention to regarding their children's health. She emphasized that it is extremely important to continue breastfeeding during the first year of life, as artificial formulas cannot fully replace breast milk.

Additionally, she reminded about the necessity of timely vaccinations. Last year, the incidence of measles significantly increased, as many parents refused vaccination, the doctor noted.

Anakeeva also pointed out the dangers of self-medication. She recounted a tragic case where a child died from poisoning by antipyretic medications that the mother gave him without supervision for two consecutive days. "Antipyretic drugs are not as safe as they seem, and they should only be used as directed by a doctor," she added, urging parents to consult family doctors when their children are ill.

Last year, there was also an increase in cases of children being poisoned by medications. In some cases, this occurred due to improper storage of medicines by parents, and sometimes children attempted to harm themselves by taking medications.

Another serious problem that parents of young children face is the swallowing of foreign objects, such as batteries or small toy parts. In such situations, surgical intervention may be required to remove part of an organ along with the swallowed object.

Anakeeva also advised parents to visit family medicine centers during epidemics rather than going straight to hospitals to avoid the risk of infection from other children. In case of an emergency at night, they should go to the hospital.

The doctor listed important preventive measures and examinations for children:

- Monthly check-ups with a pediatrician are necessary until the age of one, including weighing and assessing psychomotor development.

- Regular testing and check-ups.

- Timely examinations by doctors before starting school and during the school year.

Some children are entitled to free medical care under the state guarantee program:

For other children, co-payment is provided.
