Funding for the treatment of orphan diseases is increasing, - Ministry of Health

In 2025, funding for the treatment of orphan diseases in the country will reach 264.2 million soms. This was announced by Aibek Matkerimov, the First Deputy Minister of Health, during a meeting of the committee of the Jogorku Kenesh that deals with labor, health, women's affairs, and social policy.

Matkerimov noted that compared to 2024, the funding amount has increased by 164.2 million soms. These funds are coming from the High Technology Fund.

At the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, where the completion of the second building is scheduled for 2026, there will be provisions for beds for the diagnosis and therapy of rare (orphan) diseases.

Currently, patients with such diseases are receiving treatment in department No. 24 of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health.

Among the orphan diseases are, among others, spinal muscular atrophy, cystic fibrosis, hemophilia, phenylketonuria, Gaucher disease, as well as rare hereditary metabolic disorders and other genetic and chronic diseases that occur in a small number of people.
