The Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan is strengthening sanitary measures in connection with potential risks associated with the Nipah virus. This was reported by Health Minister Kanaybek Dosmambetov during a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on February 5.

Dosmambetov emphasized that an action algorithm has been developed and implemented in the country to respond to possible cases of the disease. Kyrgyzstan is actively cooperating with neighboring countries, such as Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, to exchange information and analyze their methods of combating the virus.

The minister also highlighted the importance of medical examinations for students returning from India. All newcomers undergo mandatory medical examinations.

By the directive of the country's leadership, additional funds have been allocated from the presidential fund to improve sanitary control at airports. In particular, the installation of stationary thermal imaging cameras is planned at all international airports, as reported by Dosmambetov.

Currently, such equipment is only operational at Manas Airport, but plans are in place for its installation at the airports in Osh, Tamchy, and Karakol in the future.

The minister assured that the situation is under control and there is currently no serious threat of the Nipah virus spreading. He also noted that the transmission of the virus occurs mainly through close physical contact, unlike COVID-19, which spreads through airborne droplets.
