At the meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on Agricultural Policy and Ecology on February 2, measures to combat smog were discussed.

Alisher Kozyuev, a deputy, addressed representatives of the Ministry of Health with a question about whether the increase in diseases is related to any virus or if it is a consequence of air pollution.

Zharkynbek Kasymbekov, the director of the National Institute of Public Health, explained that a special study to identify the exact cause had not been conducted, as it presents a complex challenge.

He noted that the structure of morbidity and mortality is multifactorial. According to global data, the deterioration of air quality has a direct impact on health. Although statistics indicate a decrease in the overall mortality and disease rates, there is an increase in lung and respiratory diseases, including allergic rhinitis. "This disease has increased by 2.5 times, especially among the child population," he added.
