In Kyrgyzstan, full operation of oncology hospitals requires funding of 4.5 billion soms. This amount is five times greater than the current allocated funds. The data was obtained as a result of monitoring conducted by the staff of the KR Ombudsman Institute in two oncology centers in the capital.

In recent years, funding for this service has significantly lagged behind actual needs. From 2018 to 2024, only about 3 million soms were allocated annually for the development of oncology. In 2024, the funding volume was increased to 176 million soms, and in 2025, an increase to 800 million soms is planned. However, even with these changes, the funds still remain below what is necessary.

According to information from the National Oncology Center, the required funding for the effective operation of the service is 4.5 billion soms, which is five times more than the current volume of allocated funds.

"The lack of funding negatively affects the ability to update equipment, purchase consumables, and technically equip departments, including linear accelerators and specialized fixation devices for patients. This leads to delays in treatment and complicates the provision of full assistance to children, and may threaten the timely delivery of radiation therapy," the message emphasizes.
The Ombudsman Institute emphasizes that to ensure citizens' constitutional right to quality medical care, it is necessary to increase funding and modernize the technical base.
