The Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic has defined priorities for 2026. Focus on oncology and reducing mortality

As a result of the recent meeting of the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, the main directions of work for 2026 were defined.
Minister Kanaybek Dosmambetov reported that among the key tasks is the modernization of the healthcare system, which includes updating the infrastructure of medical institutions, providing the population with quality medications and modern equipment, as well as strengthening the human resources potential in this field.

Among the priorities for 2026, the reduction of maternal and infant mortality rates, a review of approaches to the treatment of oncological diseases with an emphasis on the accessibility of diagnostics and medications, as well as efforts to reduce mortality from cardiovascular diseases through strengthening primary healthcare and expanding preventive measures were also named.

The Minister noted that prevention should imply a shift from treatment to the formation of a healthy society. This includes not only early detection of diseases but also creating conditions for a healthy lifestyle, preventing risk factors, and increasing citizens' responsibility for their health.

Kanaybek Dosmambetov specifically emphasized vaccination, calling it one of the key tools for protecting children from infectious diseases. He highlighted the importance of strengthening public trust in immunization and improving its quality, noting that vaccination is an investment in the health of both current and future generations.

The Minister added that oncological and cardiovascular diseases require a comprehensive approach at all levels—from prevention and screening to specialized medical care and rehabilitation.

Plans for 2026 also include the creation of a new state laboratory service, updating clinical protocols, improving quality control and financial discipline, as well as developing digital technologies to enhance the transparency of processes and the effectiveness of management in the healthcare sector.
