Companies block the exchange of medical data out of fear of liability, - expert
According to the expert, organizations are establishing complex security systems and refuse to share information with others due to concerns about violating existing legislation.
"The lack of dissemination of medical information means that it is not being fully utilized for treatment, the search for new methods of treatment, scientific progress, and the protection of public health," he added.
Detterman also pointed out that there are about 50-60 legislative acts in the U.S. that companies engaged in medical activities must comply with, or they risk lawsuits or government investigations.
He emphasized that some firms prefer to retain personal medical data, as it represents value and they do not want to share it with competitors.
