The Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) reminded citizens about cases when hospitalization can be free or involve discounts.
As noted, there has been an increase in calls to the hotline "113" from people experiencing financial difficulties related to hospitalization in medical institutions. The main reason for these difficulties is the lack of a mandatory health insurance (MHI) policy, which forces patients to pay for services at the maximum rate.

A policy is a necessary condition for receiving benefits under the state guarantee program.
Emergency medical assistance is provided free of charge only in intensive care units, as long as the patient is in critical condition. Once the patient is stabilized, inpatient treatment requires co-payment, the amount of which depends on the availability of health insurance.
The MHIF also warns that it is impossible to obtain a policy while already in the hospital; the document must be valid at the time of admission.
