In Kyrgyzstan, screening examinations for children will begin to assess lead levels.
These activities are part of a plan implemented in connection with the National Development Program until 2030, which was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers. The screening will cover preschool children and primary school students from the fourth quarter of 2026 until the fourth quarter of 2030.
According to the plan, comprehensive examinations should be conducted for at least 90% of children in the specified age groups living in various regions of the country. Based on the collected data, a comparative analytical report will be prepared, assessing the level of lead in the blood and its impact on children's health.
The screening is planned to be conducted at intervals of once every five years. The program will also take into account the percentage of children whose blood lead levels exceed 5 µg/dL.
Funding for the activities will be provided from the republican budget, as well as through support from development partners.
