Unusual Names: A Resident of Naryn, Whose Aunt Visited a Major Mosque in Kazakhstan, Was Given a Rare Name
Aset not only has a rare name but also demonstrates outstanding achievements in both academics and sports. A Turmush correspondent spoke with him about his future plans and the significance of his name.
Aset strives to complete his studies with honors. He actively participates in various clubs and seeks self-development. The young man notes that school has become not only a source of knowledge for him but also a place where he has made true friends and received valuable lessons from older peers.
Sports play a significant role in Aset's life. He previously practiced boxing, but now he has focused on volleyball, participating in interschool tournaments. "Sports teach discipline and strengthen character. For me, it is the foundation of existence," he shares.
In choosing his future profession, Aset made a conscious decision — he dreams of working in the customs service. "I want to become a customs officer because controlling the goods imported into Kyrgyzstan is of great importance. It is necessary to prevent the import of dangerous cargo, including drugs and other things that may threaten children. I believe that protecting my country is the duty of every citizen," he says.
The origin of Aset's name piques the interest of those around him. "This name was chosen for me by my father's sister. While working in Kazakhstan, she was fascinated by the name because there is a large mosque in the country dedicated to Aset. As far as I know, this name means 'ray' and 'earth'," Aset explains.
Aset also mentioned that due to the rarity of his name, he is sometimes confused with more common ones — "Asel" or "Asek." In such cases, he calmly explains, "My name is Aset."
