Nasiba Topchieva, living in the village of Chon-Talaa in the Batken region, has successfully started her career as a seamstress.

In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, she shared that she faced difficulties finding a master to repair her sewing machine. This prompted her to travel to the capital to acquire the necessary skills. For six years, she has been engaged in this craft, and recently, considering the growing interest in sewing services, she also began selling new sewing machines.

“Every day I manage to sell one machine and repair up to three. Clients come even from the Leilek and Kadamjai districts. I provide a two-year warranty on each sold machine, during which repairs are done for free. Since new models are constantly appearing on the market, I update my knowledge annually. However, there are challenges: the weight of one machine exceeds twenty kilograms, and I have to lift and move them during repairs and loading, which is physically difficult. Additionally, it has become harder to establish contact with people,” noted Topchieva.
Having mastered the art of sewing and repair, Topchieva now shares her knowledge with her students. “I have been repairing sewing machines for the last six to seven years. I previously worked as a seamstress. I also teach girls, as I am close to the technology. My mother was a seamstress but did not understand repairs. At first, many were surprised, as this profession is mostly occupied by men. On the other hand, female clients feel more comfortable with a competent woman master: they can sit next to her calmly, while with a man, they might feel awkward. I often go to clients' homes for repairs. I can also teach, as I have a degree in technology. I order spare parts from the Kara-Suu market or from Bishkek,” Nasiba shared.

All the necessary parts for machine repairs are available in her shop, and if needed, she orders them from the capital or the city of Osh.

Nasiba Topchieva is a mother of six children: three daughters and three sons, and she is proud of the "Ene Danky" (Mother's Glory) medal.
