Sovetbek Asekov, a resident of the village of Korumdu in the Tyup district, along with his son, founded their own fish farm.
For the past year, they have been engaged in fish breeding in a pond covering 2 hectares, gaining experience in this field.

By profession, Sovetbek is a driver, and he is glad that he was able to realize his long-held dream together with his son.

“I am 59 years old. I was born and raised in Korumdu. I raised three children with my wife — two daughters and a son. After finishing school, I became a driver. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, I started farming and animal husbandry. Together with my son Aibek, we long dreamed of opening a fish farm. In 2025, we registered 3 hectares of land in Korumdu and began breeding fish in the pond,” he shared.

Currently, they are breeding four species of fish in the pond. Aibek, Sovetbek's son, noted that working in the fish farm requires constant attention and daily effort.

“I am 29 years old, and I work as a welder. Five years ago, I went to Russia, where I worked abroad. I decided to invest the money I earned into our joint venture with my father — the fish farm. In 2025, we legalized the plot and invested over a million soms in the construction of the pond for fish breeding. We brought carp, grass carp, and silver carp fry from a fish farm in the Chui region. These species of fish adapt well to our climate both in winter and summer. Fry that weigh about 25 grams in spring reach 1-1.5 kilograms by autumn. Constant monitoring of water temperature and the condition of the fish is extremely important, as breeding requires a careful approach. Our main task is to prevent poaching and provide local residents with fish grown in our pond. In the future, with the development of domestic tourism, we plan to create a small recreation area and café,” added A. Sovetbekov.
