Nazgul Kulmurzaeva is a mathematics and computer science teacher who has been working at her alma mater for 35 years. She takes pride in being the daughter of the well-known teacher and principal Bektur Kulmurzaev, who contributed to the development of the school.
In her teaching career, Nazgul has been teaching computer science since 1990 and has actively utilized modern technologies. She emphasizes the importance of continuous professional growth for teachers and the updating of educational programs.
The educator also notes that students' attitudes towards learning have changed and believes that parents should play a crucial role in supporting their children's education. She has a number of awards to her name, including letters of appreciation and distinctions for her contributions to education.
Nazgul Bekturovna Kulmurzaeva was born on February 10, 1967, in the village of Kara-Burgon. From 1974 to 1984, she studied at the Zhenish secondary school (now Mukash Bazarkulov school), and from 1985 to 1990, she attended the Kyrgyz Women's Pedagogical Institute named after V.V. Mayakovsky [now the Kyrgyz State University named after I. Arabayev] in Bishkek, majoring in mathematics and computer science.
She began her career on August 1, 1990, at the same school where she studied, working as a mathematics and computer science teacher. She is married and has two sons and two daughters, as well as six grandchildren. Her husband, Torobay Abdyraev, worked for many years in the village administration and is now a teacher at the school.
According to Kulmurzaeva, she is proud to be the daughter of the well-known educator Bektur Kulmurzaev in the Naryn region. “My father had a significant influence on my choice of future profession as a teacher. He worked as a teacher for many years and held the position of principal. At that time, the Zhenish school was located in an old building, which is lower than the current location of the school. In 1984-1985, he, along with Mukash Bazarkulov, contributed to the construction of a new standard school building. My father was the first to introduce a five-day school week in our school. He was truly a strong teacher and principal, a well-known and respected person. I am proud to be the daughter of such a person. Since 1990, I have also been a homeroom teacher,” the educator shares.
Nazgul Kulmurzaeva is the second computer science teacher at this school. “Computer science appeared in our school in the 1985-1986 academic year. The first teacher was Aymonchok Shekeeva, and I started teaching in 1990. At that time, we worked on the 'Korvet' computer, and later switched to 'IBM'. It was difficult back then, as there were few computers, and they often malfunctioned. However, my husband, Torobay Abdyraev, as a teacher, noticed this and bought five computers with his own money, while the school repaired two old ones. Later, for Mukash Bazarkulov's 80th anniversary, my son-in-law donated 16 computers,” she reported.
She emphasized the importance of continuous professional development. “A teacher plays a vital role in society because they educate the future generation and lay its foundations. The teaching profession is creative. To be a good teacher, one needs knowledge, talent, and to work hard. Education and continuous development are essential. It is necessary to master new methodologies, use modern technologies, and always improve one's knowledge. It is important to be ready to learn new things, especially in the field of computer science, as this subject is crucial in the digital age. Programs and applications are constantly being updated, and the educational process must also change,” the educator says.
She also noted the trend that students' attitudes towards learning are changing. “Today's students have different attitudes towards learning. This is related to several factors. For example, they seek easy answers borrowed from the internet without conducting their own analysis. They do not go to libraries, do not read books, and do not delve into their studies. Computer science, as a subject, is not taught in grades 10-11. The subject I teach is not related to the National Testing or the 'Altyn Tamga' certification. I believe that the attitude towards learning should start with parents. There are parents who pay attention to their children's education, and there are those who do not care about it,” Nazgul shares her opinion.
Kulmurzaeva also spoke about her achievements over 35 years of work. “In 2004, I received a letter of appreciation from the Ak-Talinsky District Department of Education, in 2009 I participated in the 'Teacher of the Year' competition and received a certificate. In 2010, I was awarded a letter of appreciation from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, in 2013 I received the 'Best in Education' badge. In 2021, I was awarded a certificate from the Kyrgyz Academy of Education. In 2024, I received the 'Digital Teacher' award and went on vacation to Tashkent,” she shared.
