She emphasized that Kyrgyz citizens serving sentences or facing criminal prosecution in Russia often encounter problems that require the intervention of a supervisory authority.
“Currently, there is no representation of the General Prosecutor's Office of Kyrgyzstan in Russia, making its establishment necessary. This will allow for more effective resolution of issues related to extradition and the return of citizens to their homeland,” Kurmanalieva stated.
Attorney General Maksat Asanaliev confirmed that he is negotiating the establishment of a representation in Russia. He noted that he has already met with his Russian counterpart and representatives of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation, who see no obstacles to opening an office.
“The issue of funding remains open, and we are currently discussing this with the government. I plan to send two employees to work in the representation. I would also like to have at least one representative in the CIS Executive Committee, but at the moment this is impossible due to staffing limitations in that organization,” he added.
