Throughout the republic, there are only 1,146 state veterinarians working.
This statement was in response to a remark by Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva that in rural areas, veterinary services are mainly provided by retirees.
Isakov also reported that there are 1,980 villages in Kyrgyzstan.
"The total number of livestock in the country is 20 million. We are facing a shortage of veterinarians and are attracting private specialists. Young people are not eager to work in this field, and to date, more than half of the veterinarians are over 60 years old," Isakov added.
Surabaldiyeva emphasized the importance of engaging young people in veterinary training.
"The number of budget places for future specialists should be increased, and they should be sent for internships abroad to gain experience," she suggested.
Kumar Isakov also noted that some veterinarians are already undergoing internships in various countries.
