Almaz Raimbekov, Deputy Head of the President's Office, explained the current situation regarding driver's licenses for citizens of Kyrgyzstan abroad.

At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on April 1, he mentioned that Vice-Speaker Bolot Ibragimov contacted him regarding a problem faced by one of the Kyrgyz citizens in Lithuania.

Raimbekov noted: "I spoke with this man, and he confirmed that no state body had informed him about any discrepancies with his license. The problem arose due to the human resources department of a private company, which stated that licenses compliant with the Vienna Convention were needed. These are licenses that are issued for a period of three years." He added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will prepare and send 700 such licenses to Kyrgyz citizens.

In response, Ibragimov stated that he had not communicated with Raimbekov and urged not to mislead people.

“The new national standard driver's licenses do not comply with paragraph 4 of annex No. 6 of the Vienna Convention, no matter how you try to dispute this. This is the reality, and the sooner you acknowledge it, the sooner we can resolve the issue that has arisen. I hope that such situations will not occur in the future, and your actions should be legally assessed,” said the deputy.
