At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Rahat Junushbaeva raised the issue of the need to create a center for historical heritage in Karakol.

She noted that in 2029 the city will become a tourist center according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation. "This is not only our pride but also a significant responsibility. Karakol is a unique city that can be characterized as an open-air museum, possessing architectural heritage from the late 19th to early 20th century. However, unfortunately, many historical buildings in the city center are at risk of destruction," the deputy said.

In her opinion, a complete list of historical sites has not yet been compiled, which underscores the need to create a historical heritage zone in the city. "This will help not only preserve the buildings but also attract funding from international organizations and donors for their restoration," she added.

Junushbaeva also emphasized that with the help of international partners, guarantees for restoration work can be ensured. "Karakol must develop, but this should not come at the expense of its historical heritage. Tourists come here for the authenticity and spirit of the city," the deputy concluded.
