The airport in Florida will be renamed in honor of Donald Trump
This decision became possible after a plan to transfer a plot of land in downtown Miami for the construction of a presidential library was approved last year.
To change the name of the airport, an official application must be submitted to the Federal Aviation Administration, which will update the relevant databases and signage at the airport.
Recently, a bill proposing to change the airport's three-letter code from PBI to DJT was introduced by Representative Brian Mast. The new code will correspond to Trump's initials.
Donald Trump, who was born in New York, moved to Florida in 2019. He previously lived in the Trump Tower penthouse but has since become a permanent resident of his Mar-a-Lago resort in West Palm Beach.
