As part of a five-day press tour dedicated to the celebration of Navruz, more than 20 representatives from state and private media outlets of Kyrgyzstan visited Tajikistan. This visit was a significant step towards strengthening cultural and professional ties between the two countries, as well as a practical implementation of the agreements reached during President Sadyr Japarov's state visit to Tajikistan on July 8-9, 2025.
One of the main points of the program was the Hissar Fortress, located 30 kilometers from Dushanbe. This ancient citadel, with a 3000-year history, once served as the residence of the governor of the Bukhara emir and is now a symbol of historical diplomacy. Delegation members were reminded that it was here in 329 BC that local residents put up fierce resistance against Alexander the Great, forcing him to change his conquest tactics to a strategy of alliance. The legend of his marriage to Roxana suggests that "if a people cannot be conquered by force, one must become relatives." These lessons remain relevant today, emphasizing the importance of a good-neighbor policy.
The program of the visit was aimed at exchanging experiences with leading editorial offices in Tajikistan, establishing direct contacts in the media sphere, and exploring the cultural heritage of the region. As noted by one of the participants of the press tour, strengthening such ties creates the necessary impetus for the development of bilateral relations. The trip coincided with the large-scale celebration of Navruz, which is celebrated in Tajikistan for an entire week. Journalists from Kyrgyzstan had the opportunity to witness vibrant theatrical performances, learn about national crafts, and appreciate the flavors of traditional dishes, further confirming the commonality of Central Asian cultures.
Organizers emphasize that such visits are a continuation of the course towards rapprochement set by the leaders of the states. The meeting of the presidents in Khujand last year and the signing of peace agreements at the borders laid the foundation for active humanitarian cooperation, of which this media tour is a part.
