According to information provided by The New York Times (NYT), the United States has sent a 15-point plan to Tehran aimed at ending military actions in the Middle East.
The newspaper emphasizes that this step indicates the intentions of the Donald Trump administration to find a solution to the conflict that is causing significant economic damage.
However, as NYT notes, it is still unclear how familiar Iranian authorities are with the proposal, which was conveyed through Pakistan, and whether they are willing to consider it as a basis for future negotiations. It is also unclear whether Israel supports this proposal.
Despite the delivery of the plan, reports indicate that the Pentagon has sent about 2,000 soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division to the conflict area.
On March 24, CNN reported that in recent days there have been contacts between the US and Iran that have not yet developed into full-fledged negotiations. The parties are discussing the possibility of reaching a peace agreement. One source from the channel stated that Iran is ready to provide guarantees of abandoning the development of nuclear weapons, but insists on the right to peaceful use of nuclear technologies.
On the same day, Donald Trump announced that Tehran had agreed not to seek the creation of nuclear weapons.
