The law on the ratification of the extradition treaty between the Kyrgyz Republic and Mongolia was signed by the president
This law establishes the legal framework for the extradition of convicted persons, allowing them to serve their sentences in their homeland.
The treaty, which was signed in Bishkek on July 21, 2025, outlines the procedure for the extradition of individuals between the two states. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been tasked with notifying the Mongolian side about the completion of all necessary procedures within the country.
This law will come into effect 10 days after its official publication, which took place in the newspaper "Erkin Too" on March 17, 2026, under number 20.
It is also worth noting that there are currently two citizens of Mongolia serving sentences in correctional facilities in Kyrgyzstan, while there are no Kyrgyz citizens among the prisoners in Mongolia. Despite this, Mongolia is sending requests for the extradition of convicted individuals, highlighting the need to create a legal framework for exchange.
