Fights on the Road Prohibited: Fines and License Suspension for Drivers
A new article — 189 — is proposed, which will specifically address conflicts and fights between drivers.
According to the draft law, participation in fights or conflicts on the road that pose a threat to safety will result in a fine of 10,000 soms for drivers. In case of a repeated violation within a year, the punishment will become stricter — a fine and the suspension of driving rights for up to six months may be imposed.
The initiators of the draft law emphasize that in recent years, cases of conflicts on Kyrgyz roads have increased, often escalating into physical violence, which poses a danger to both the participants and other drivers and pedestrians.
According to information from the justification report, over 90% of traffic accidents occur due to driver fault, while the accident rate in the country remains one of the highest in the region.
The goal of the new draft law is to reduce the number of conflicts on the roads, improve driver discipline, and promote the formation of a culture of safe driving.
The document is already available on the website of the Jogorku Kenesh and is currently in the stage of public discussion.
