At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on March 18, Erulan Kokulov expressed the opinion that journalists are violating the law. He emphasized the importance of objectivity and fairness in journalism, noting that he has repeatedly called on his colleagues in the profession to adhere to the law.

Kokulov mentioned a specific journalist named Ilim, who, according to him, openly behaves like a gossipmonger, violating the law. "There are no real journalists left in Kyrgyzstan," the deputy emphasized, adding that he himself, having once been a journalist, became a victim of manipulation.

According to him, after his criticism of journalists, he received warnings about possible consequences through phone calls. "But I was ready for this, and it was said intentionally as a provocation," he added.

Kokulov also spoke about a situation with a pharmacy that he criticized, which led to its relocation in accordance with sanitary regulations. "However, journalists distorted my role in this matter, writing that I, without any medical education, checked the pharmacy," he noted.

Furthermore, the deputy touched on an incident involving a police press service employee who drew up a report against him for violating traffic rules. "Nadir, working in the press, is also part of this journalistic mafia," Kokulov stated, adding that his video was edited in a negative light.

Kokulov expressed dissatisfaction with the distorted coverage of his questions to President Sadyr Japarov, noting that journalists write as if he simply complained to the president. "Since when has journalism in Kyrgyzstan become like this?" the deputy exclaimed. "We demand adherence to the law from everyone, including the traffic police and courts, but journalists seem to be able to afford this," he added.

Despite his accusations, Kokulov acknowledged that there are also conscientious journalists. "I am ready to apologize to those who truly do their job honestly. I urge all journalists to comply with the law, otherwise I will have to disclose information about those who receive money for their work from corrupt officials," the deputy concluded.
