In northern Kyrgyzstan, the birth rate has sharply declined.
The response to the question posed by MP Jumabek Salymbekov regarding the current situation with childbirth in the country served as the basis for her statement.
According to Ibraeva, previously, around 150,000 births were recorded annually in Kyrgyzstan. In 2025, preliminary data indicates that the number of newborns was 137,982, which is 2,000 less than in 2024. She noted that there is a trend of decreasing births each year, which is linked to various social factors. One of these factors is the changing views of families and women, who prefer to achieve financial stability first before thinking about children.
However, when looking at the statistics by region, it can be observed that in the south of the country, the number of births has not decreased, while in the north, this figure has sharply fallen," she added.
As for infant mortality, according to Ibraeva, based on the analysis conducted, this indicator in the country has decreased by 36 percent compared to previous years.
