The deputy requests to simplify the procedure for granting disability status to children.
According to her data, there are over 37,000 registered children with disabilities in the country, including 3,000 with mental disorders.
“Every year, the number of such children increases. Currently, according to some sources, there is a child with a disability in every 20th family. Forecasts indicate that the situation may worsen, and disability could affect every 5th family,” she noted.
Many mothers of such children express dissatisfaction with the complexity of obtaining disability status. This is especially true for women with children who have mental disorders, as they have to constantly appeal to various institutions—from the Republican Center for Mental Health (RCMH) to the Family Medicine Center (FMC) for numerous examinations. This process becomes a real ordeal, while the amount of the disability allowance is only 8,000 soms,” the deputy added.
Akimbaeva urged the Ministry of Health to take advantage of digitalization initiatives in the country to simplify the process of obtaining disability status for children.
